Dealing with Corona in Oberursel
With many events cancelled due to Corona, three people in Oberursel have come up with an idea to make the most of the summer as safely as possible.
Thomas Fiehler, Danny Franklin and Thomas Studanski have arranged for a beer garden – with wine and food – to open on the Rathausplatz in front of the town hall, Thursdays to Saturdays from 4pm to 10pm.
There is no music, just someone to go and sit, drink and eat, with the Jürgen Ponto Fountain providing a water slide for children to play on. The number of people allowed in depends on whether they are couple, families or groups, to allow for social distancing at the tables.
The beer garden was officially opened this evening, 23rd July 2020, by the new fountain queen Verena I.

Ice cream, and less restrictions
Today was the first day that I have sat down at a restaurant or ice cream parlour for three months. Actually, it was outside at the Epinay Eiscafé in Oberursel.
Also today, some restrictions have been reduced so that events can now take place with up to 250 people and shops can allow more people in than previously. However large events look set to be cancelled until October.
And on Monday, the primary schools return to normal class sizes, although social distancing still has to be observed outside the classroom and some subjects such as sport will still not be taught.
