Volker Bouffier answered citizens’ questions at the Hessentag

The Ministerpräsident (prime minister) of the State of Hesse, Volker Bouffier answered citizens’ questions at the Hessentag on Sunday.  The Bürgersprechstunde took place on the stage in Hall 1 of the Landesausstellung and lasted for an hour.

The question and answer session was chaired by Statesecretary and Spokesman of the government of the State of Hessen, Michael Bußer.

Topics covered included the school situation in Oberursel, the extension of one school in particular, although no answer here was forthcoming because it is apparently not something that the state is responsibly for, rather the local district council (Kreis).   Strangely, when that council was being elected, the politicians said the exact opposite. The Nachhaltigkeitssong Premiere with Jennifer Braun

The premiere of the new “Nachhaltigskeitssong” took place at the Hessentag in Oberursel on Sunday.

Nachhaltigkeit means sustainability, and is one of the keywords at the Hessentag.  The pop song, called “Jetzt und für immer” (now and for ever) was performed by Jennifer Braun and the band “Rewind” on the Süwag stage in the Rushmoor Park.

The song project was introduced by local radio presenter Bastian Korff with the finance minister for the State of Hesse, Prof. Dr. Luise Hölscher, and CO2 learning network representative Jörg Schmidt. [Read more…]

World Vision at the Hessentag

The Charity World Vision, whose German office is in Friedrichsdorf, have a stand in Hall 2 of the Landesausstellung at the Hessentag in Oberursel.

Visitors can find out about the charity’s work and also how to sponsor a child in a third-world country.

There is also the chance to win a ride in a hot air balloon.  To do so, children are asked to draw or write a wish for all the children in the World.  This is then attached to a helium filled balloon and taken outside the hall to be released.
