10 years ago – on 6th February, 2013 – the AfD political party was founded in Oberursel, not something the town is particularly proud of. For their 10th anniversary celebrations, the party were forced to move down the road to Königstein, where 700 demonstrators awaited them:
The long awaited Aldi supermarket
At the beginning of the pandemic, Rewe closed one of their supermarkets in Oberursel that was a favourite amongst local residents. Speculation was rife about who would eventually take over the shop, until the newly elected Mayor let the cat out of the bag and named Aldi at the opening ceremony of a nearby restaurant.
Since then, many eyes have been on the progress – or lack of it – inside the store. But now, not only is building work taking place, a poster has gone up naming the planned opening date:
