River Boyne Band at the Hessentag

This afternoon the Irish Folk duo “River Boyne Band” from Wehrheim performed on the Frankfurter Neue Presse stage in the Deschauer Park during the Hessentag in Oberursel.

I caught them only chance, as I had not read about them in the official programme guide.

Seniorentreff Open Day at the Hessentag

The Seniorentreff “Altes Hospital” was open to the public last weekend as part of the Hessentag in Oberursel.  It is normally a place for senior citizens to go to find support and take part in activities.

Outside the building, staff were making and selling waffles, whilst inside a flea market was taking place nd the creative group were demonstrating their sells.

With the help of many volunteers, the centre puts on a wide programme of events, some of which take place on a weekly basis such as dancing, chess, skat, and gymnastics. [Read more…]

Volker Bouffier answered citizens’ questions at the Hessentag

The Ministerpräsident (prime minister) of the State of Hesse, Volker Bouffier answered citizens’ questions at the Hessentag on Sunday.  The Bürgersprechstunde took place on the stage in Hall 1 of the Landesausstellung and lasted for an hour.

The question and answer session was chaired by Statesecretary and Spokesman of the government of the State of Hessen, Michael Bußer.

Topics covered included the school situation in Oberursel, the extension of one school in particular, although no answer here was forthcoming because it is apparently not something that the state is responsibly for, rather the local district council (Kreis).   Strangely, when that council was being elected, the politicians said the exact opposite.
