Personal Pasta in Bad Homburg

The Trattoria Fantastico in Bad Homburg is known to many German TV viewers as “Stein’s” – the restaurant in the ARD detective series “Polizeiruf 110“.

But for local residents it is an Italian restaurant with a difference. Here the guests can order not only from the menu, but they can also be personally advised by the staff.

They help the guests to find their perfect combination of fish, meat and pasta – all freshly prepared and served with the appropriate wine.

At lunchtime they serve set menus in three different price categories, consisting of either a main course and a starter.

The restaurant can also be booked for private events of up to 50 people.

Located just off the main shopping area (Louisenstr.) in Bad Homburg, it is easily accessible for visitors to the town wishing to try an Italien restaurant with a difference – and to enjoy “Mediterranean moments with Pino and his team”.

I.G.I.C.

Die kanarischen Inseln unterliegen nicht dem EU Mehrwertsteuersystem, aber auch nicht der spanischen MwSt (IVA) . Hier gibt es das sogenannte I.G.I.C.

I.G.I.C. bedeutet Impuesto General Indirecto Canario , dies ist quasi die Mehrwertsteuer auf den Kanaren. Die Höhe dieser Steuer variiert, sie kann zwischen 0% und 35% liegen. Die übliche Höhe in Restaurants beträgt in der Regel jedoch 5%. Die Abkürzung I.G.I.C. findet man meist unten am Rand der Speisekarte. Diesen Prozentsatz muss man dann zum Preis des Gerichts dazurechnen, auch zu den Getränken.

Geschäftsleute werden wahrscheinlich weniger Schwierigkeiten damit haben, da sie es gewohnt sind ohne Mehrwertsteuer zu denken,

Aber Privatpersonen müssen dann erst einmal umdenken, bzw. daran denken, dass sie diese 5% dazu rechnen müssen. Diese können nämlich am Ende auf der Rechnung evtl. nur ein paar Cent ausmachen oder zu einem kleinen Schock werden!

Man kann natürlich nichts dagegen tun, nur beim Auswählen des Gerichts mitbedenken, dass ca. 5% dazukommen, z.B. aus 12,95€ werden dann 13,60€.

Wichtig ist, dies als Steuer anzusehen und hat nichts mit dem Service des Restaurants zu tun.

Emma’s Cantina Mexicana in Puerto del Carmen

I passed Emma’s Cantina Mexicana in the old part of Puerto del Carmen last year, and was tempted to go in and try it.  Unfortunately, on the evening that I was planning to go there it was closed, so I didn’t actually get to.

However, I hear it comes highly recommended, and allegedly has the only native Mexican chef on the island – which considering the number of tex-mex restaurants is quite a feat in itself.

So since I won’t be going back there myself this year, perhaps anyone who goes there could leave a short comment on this blog and tell me how it is?   Go on, make me jealous!
