Three weeks to Brexit

With three weeks left to go until the possibility of a “no deal” Brexit, and yet apparently people are not doing enough to prepare for it.

This is according to an import assessment by the UK Government which can be downloaded here.

It warns that only two thirds of critical projects are ready and trade agreements are not yet in place.  If talks of letting hauliers to pass through the UK/French Border controls without stopping, as long as their paperwork is correct, but also of the additional need for customs declarations and the burden that will place on businesses.

Truly German – Episode 01 – 31st July 2009

Truly German is a new podcast that talks about the news in Germany.  Sometimes this will by national news, maybe political, but we will also be covering some local topics.

We want to have some fun at the same time, so part of the podcast is our Länderquiz – in which my contestant has to guess in which Bundesland three different news stories took place in.

This week the topics are:

  1. Agreement ends strikes in German Kindergartens
  2. Swimming pool closed due to leak
  3. Divers find Mercedes in a lake
  4. German minister’s car stolen in Spain

The quiz covers the following stories:

  1. Europe’s first passive swimming pool
  2. New motorway has speed limits imposed due to heat
  3. German’s oldest steam engine

Reviewing the Madrid Confessions

Regular listeners of The Monday Podcast may remember that I visited Madrid last year to take part in the Great Madrid Escape, an event organised by Ben Curtis and Marina Diez from NotesFromSpain.com.

Last week Ben released an audio book: “The Madrid Confessions”, telling the story of different parts of his life after arriving in Spain up until the present day.

I was lucky enough to pick up an early tweet about the book and download it early.  I’ve reviewed it in this week’s podcast:
