Three injured in U-Bahn collision

Three people were injured on Tuesday evening when a van collided with a U-Bahn train at the level crossing in the Kumeliusstraße.

The van, a Citroen Jumper, had turned into the street from the Berliner Straße when it collided with a passing U3 train.  The driver of the van and two passengers in the train were slightly hurt.

The damage is estimated at €30,000.

Sports club awarded €50,000 grant

The Turn- und Sportgemeinde 1861 e.V. Oberursel (TSGO) have been awarded a €50,000 grant by the Hessen Government to renovate their sanitary area and modernise their fitness room.

Confirmation of the grant to the 4,000 member strong was made by Hessen’s interior minister, 3rd from left in the photo.

To his left are honorary TSGO chairman Willi Zulauf and Alderman Wolfgang Pristaff.  To his right are TSGO president Rolf Vaupel, chairman of Sportkreis Hochtaunus e.V. Norbert Möller and town council chairman Dr. Christoph Müllerleile.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

Berliner Straße closed for two weeks

Travel will be diverted via the Feldbergstraße and Liebfrauenstraße.

Baroness Bertha von Suttner was an Austrian pacifist and the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

A road in the “Drei Hasen” area of Oberursel that will become a business park has been named in her honour.

The plans (Bebauungsplan) for the extension of Frankfurt International School (FIS) are now on public display at the town hall in Oberursel in the Info-Center on the 4th floor of Building A, and also on-line on the town’s website.

Nassauer Straße closed until Saturday

Roadworks sign - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / RedKoalaThe Nassauer Straße was closed on one side yesterday afternoon between the Berliner Straße and the Feldbergstraße  to allow work on the pavement at the Grammar School (Gymnasium) to take place.  It will remain partially closed until Saturday, 28th July, 2012.

Traffic is being diverted via the Berliner Straße and the Liebfrauenstraße.

Witnesses sought after mugging in Weißkirchen

Detectives in Bad Homburg are looking for anyone who witnessed an attack in Weißkirchen on Saturday evening.

A 52 year old man was returning home from work in Frankfurt when he was attacked and robbed by three men.

The men are described as being approximately 1.80m tall, masked and wearing dark clothes.  The police report that they hit their victim before giving him an electric shock, after which they proceeded to hit and kick him.

After they had taken the cash that he was carrying they ran off.

Anyone who saw the attack or was near the U-Bahn station in Weißkirchen at around 10.45pm is asked to call the police in Bad Homburg (Kripo) on 06172 1200.

Police traffic checks in the Zimmersmühlenweg

The police in Oberursel (Ordnungspolizei) carried out traffic checks in the Zimmersmühlenweg last Wednesday.

Between 10.40am and 1pm they came across 5 cases of people not wearing a seat belt (30 Euro fine).  None of those checked were using a mobile phone whilst driving.
