Fire in the Untere Hainstrasse

A fire in an empty house in the Untere Hainstrasse caused €300,000 of damage and left the building in danger of collapse on Wednesday morning.

The alarm was raised just after 3am when a neighbour noticed the smoke in house number 13 and alerted the owner, who at first tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.  When he failed to do so the fire spread throughout the building and up to the roof.

The building was damaged so much, that the fire brigade declared the building in danger of collapse.  Now investigators are trying to find the cause of the blaze, however their work cannot begin properly until the buildung has been made safe.
