Congratulations to Frau Hilde Sagasser in Oberursel who is 90 years old today.
Regular readers may have noticed that there have been less articles about the Ausländerbeirat on this blog in the second half of last year. There are a number of reasons for that, but one is the lack of new things to write about. One meeting is very much like another, and the few highlights that did happen didn’t always make it as far as an article.
But with the committee’s attention turning towards their own election on 29th November, 2015, would they make an effort to be more productive? Maybe even come up with their first motion for the town council?
The first meeting of the Ausländerbeirat in 2015 took place on Monday, 19th January, 2015. All members were present, except for their man in the town hall, Thomas Eifert, who was on holiday in Thailand.
There were very few guests, and when it came to the public questions part of the meeting, I was the only one who had anything to ask.
So I asked if it was possible to inform the foreigners in the town about the forthcoming election by writing to them directly with unbiased information, and not just send them the usual voting notification postcard. [Read more…]
The story “Billy bei den Indianern!” by Catharina Valckx is being read in the library on Tuesday, 24th February, 2015 at 3.30pm by volunteer Edith Nikel-Ruppmann.
Tickets cost €2 and should be reserved in advance in the library or by calling 06171 62870.
Friday night is music night at Musikhalle Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
On Friday, 27th February, 2015, another “Newcomer TV Night” is being held.
Doors open at 8pm for a 8.30pm start and entry costs €2.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Thursday, 26th February, 2015 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.
A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink.
A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Stierstadt on Tuesday, 24th February, 2015.
To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering a 3,000 step walk on Wednesday, 25th February, 2015.
To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 24th February, 2015, we are told that it will be a British film. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
