There will be a book flea market in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 5th December, 2015 between 10am and 1pm with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.
The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.
The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).
Sunday, 29th November, 2015 is the day that elections for the Ausländerbeirat take place in Oberursel.
Foreign residents of the town that have lived here for at least three months are eligible to vote and should have recieved their polling cards several weeks ago.
The only polling station for the entire town and its suburbs is in the Georg-Hieronymi-Saal, which is located between the town hall and the police station, with voting possible between 8am and 6pm.
It is not necessary to take the polling card along to vote, although it is better to do so. An ID card or passport is, however, necessary.
In cases of sudden illness, a postal vote is possible up to 3pm, which must, however, be collected by someone in person who has a power of attorney.

A tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 5th December, 2015 at 2pm.
The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.
The bluebox portstrasse will be showing a film for children aged 4 and over on Friday, 4th December 2015 at 2.45pm.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The bluebox is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (formerly “Portstraße”).
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 1st December, 2015, we are told that it will be a silent film with live organ music. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 3rd December 2015.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

The 2015 Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Oberursel starts on Thursday, 26th November and continues until Sunday, 29th November.
The market is open Thursday 4pm-9pm, Friday 2pm-10pm, Saturday 12pm-10pm and Sunday 12pm-9pm, and takes place in front of the town hall (Rathausplatz), along the “Vorstadt” and “Strackgasse”, and on the market square (“Marktplatz”) with over 100 stands in total. [Read more…]

This market takes place on the 1st floor and has a larger selection of books than the monthly one, so there are usually foreign-language books there as well.
