A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Stierstadt on Tuesday, 26th April, 2016.
To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 26th April, 2016, we are told that it will be a buddy comedy. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
Saturday, 9th April, 2016 saw the end Christina II.’s reign as Oberursel’s Fountain Queen (Brunnenkönigin).
The evening started with live music from the group “Natürlich 3”, before the guests were welcomed by Hessische Rundfunk presenter Tim Frühling. In an unprecedented move he welcomed the future queen, Nadine I., who was sitting in the audience. This is the first year that the name has been revealed publicly in advance.
And it was Nadine’s taste in music that influenced the next act. Singer Anjuschka Uher sang the winning title from the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest: “Euphoria”. Later it was the turn of Stierstadt’s firebrigade band to play one last time for Christina before her farewell speech. [Read more…]
On Saturday, 23rd April, 2016 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local town guide Silvia Struck.
The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Auswertestelle West up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.
The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.
This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.

The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 22nd April, 2016 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.
A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink and due to the limited number of places reservation by telephone (06171 585333) is requested.
The registry office (“Standesamt”) and the town hall department for cemeteries will be closed on Thursday, 21st April, 2016 due to training.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 21st April, 2016.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a coffee afternoon on Sunday, 17th April, 2016 between 2pm and 6pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 16th April 2016 between 7am and 1pm.
The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.
To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.
