Friday Night Jazz at the Portstrasse

Entry is free.

The “musikhalle” is located opposite the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” on the U3 line.

The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 15th April, 2016 between 9am and 11am.

The of end Christina II.’s year as Fountain Queen

With just a few days of her reign left, Fountain Queen Christina II. and her Brunnenmeister Jürgen visited the town hall in Oberursel, where they were thanked for their work representing the town by Mayor Hans-Georg Brum and Town Treasurer Thorsten Schorr.

“It was a lovely time” commented Hans-Georg Brum, but continued that everything had to come to an end.  He was keen to highlight the difference between Christina and Jürgen, that they where completely opposite in their approach to things, but this mixture had fitted well together. [Read more…]

Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 14th April, 2016.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Cars damaged in Stierstadt

At least seven cars were damaged in one night in Stierstadt recently, and local police are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

The cars were all parked in the Eichenstraße in Stierstadt on the night of the 29th/30th of March (2016), and all damaged by deep scratches in the paintwork.  The total damage is estimated to be around €10,000.

To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.

Tuesday night cinema at Bluebox Portstraße

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 12th April, 2016, we are told that it will be a filmed novel. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.

The showing starts at 9pm.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Stierstadt

To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.

Farewell to the U2

The “U2” type of trains have been running on the lines through Frankfurt since the U-Bahn service started on 4th October, 1968, and have been a regular sight in Oberursel since 1978.  Recently they have been replaced by newer models – the “U5” is currently in use on the U3 line – and last weekend the day arrived for the last ones to be taken out of service.

For one day only, six of the remaining U2 trains, including three of the original sets, travelled back and forth between Oberursel-Bahnhof and Römerstadt, a route that was not even possible until 2010.  Along the route, enthusiasts gathered to use the last opportunity to take photos their last journeys.

Those original three train sets, numbered 303, 304, and 305, have been restored and repainted in their original livery.  They will be joining a collection of historic trains in Frankfurt that are maintained for private hire and special events. [Read more…]
