A tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 1st April 2017 at 2pm.
The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.
There will be a book flea market in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 1st April 2017, between 10am and 1pm with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.
The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.
The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).
Congratulations to Frau Gisela Schauß of Oberursel who is 90 years old today.
The Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be holding a Stammtisch on Friday, 31st March 2017 between 5pm and 8.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).
The Stammtisch is a place to discuss anything and everything that those attending wish to.
A charge of €7 per person will be made to cover the cost of food and drink and due to the limited number of places reservation by telephone (06171 585333) is requested.
It was at Easter 1967, 50 years ago, that the Epinay-Platz in Oberursel officially received its name. The town twinning between Oberursel and Epinay-sur-Seine in France was only three years old at the time.
This event will be remembered on Saturday, 25th March, 2017 when a rally will be held on the square between 11.30am and 1pm under the title “Kundgebung für Europa”.
Epinay was the first town that Oberursel twinned with, and the twinning itself is still going strong. But considering recent events and the current discussions taking place on the future of Europe it was been decided not to celebrate with a festival, but with a rally, with speeches, stalls and music. A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Weißkirchen on Wednesday, 29th March 2017.
To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.
A 3,000 step walk for senior citizens is taking place in Stierstadt on Tuesday, 28th March 2017.
To take part, be at the bus stop “Altes Rathaus” in Stierstadt at 3pm.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 28th March 2017, we are told that it will be a European Arts film. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
A guided walk entitled “Auf den Spuren jüdischen Lebens in Oberursel” (Traces of Jewish life in Oberursel) is being offered on Sunday, 26th March, 2017 by historian Angelika Rieber.
The tour starts at 2.30pm at the fountain on the Marktplatz and costs 3EUR per person.
On Saturday, 25th March, 2017 there will be a tour of the area in Oberursel known as “Camp King” with local town guide Silvia Struck.
The tour covers the history of the area from the Reichssiedlungshof in the 1930s, through the time of the Auswertestelle West up to the end of the U.S. Army presence in the town.
The meeting point is at the “Kinderhaus” in the Jean-Sauer-Weg at 2pm, and the tour costs 3EUR.
This is an interesting opportunity for local residents to learn more about the history of the area that they live in.
