Rompel-Passage closed until September

The “Rompel-Passage” in the centre of Oberursel is being closed next week to allow for it to be re-plastered and the display cases to be replaced.

Between Monday, 17th July, 2017 and the beginning of September the shops Amicus, Rompel and Liwell only be accessible via the Chopin-Platz (Holzweg) and the Untere Hainstraße, but not directly from the Vorstadt.

 

Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 20th July 2017.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

New fountain vandalised

The new “Äppelparkbrunnen” in Oberstedten has been vandalised, just days before that part of the town was set to celebrate it’s 1,200th anniversary.

As the photo shows, someone has removed the apple from the top of the fountain:

3,000 step walk for senior citizens in Weißkirchen

To take part, be at the “Altes Rathaus” (Urselbachstraße 59) at 9.30am.

Missing Person: Julia Weidmann

Police in Bad Homburg are asking for help to find Julia Weidmann.  The 32-year-old has not been seen since Monday, 3rd July, 2017, when she left her home in the Haingasse (in Bad Homburg).

Frau Weidmann is 1.65m tall, weighs 54kg, has long dark brown hair and blue eyes.  She is probably wearing white or orange trainers.

Due to a psychological illness, it is possible that she may be in danger.  She is known to use public transport.

Accident on the Lahnstraße

An accident on the Lahnstraße (B456) on Friday afternoon (7th July, 2017) caused an estimated €28,000 of damage.

A 33-year-old driver in a Ford car approached the crossing with the Dornbachstraße coming from Bad Homburg and wanted to turn left into the Alte-Leipziger-Platz.  They oversaw an Audi coming out of Oberursel and travelling towards Bad Homburg.  The cars hit each other and the Ford ended up on its roof, leaving the driver with slightly injured.

A number of bicycles stolen

Police report that a number of bicycles have been stolen in Oberursel in recent days.

At the weekend, two valuable bicycles worth over €2,000 were stolen from the Oberhöchstadter Straße.  It appears that the thieves broke into a garage where the bicycles had been locked up.

Then on Monday, 10th July, 2017, a witness observed a number of youths as they stole a valuable e-book from the Hans-Thoma-School at 7.45pm.  The witness said that there were four people involved, and all of them wore dark clothing.

In both cases police are asking anyone with information to call them on 06171 62400.

Flea Market in the Adenauerallee

Flea Market - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / photoflorenzoThe monthly flea market in the Adenauerallee in Oberursel will take place on Saturday, 15th July 2017 between 7am and 1pm.

The flea market starts at the end of the pedestrian zone and continues the length of the Adenauerallee and over the railway lines towards Bommersheim. One part also takes place in the Nassauer Straße next to the U-Bahn tracks.

To get there by train take either the line U3 or S5 to Oberursel’s main station.

The Seniorentreff in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9) will be holding a breakfast buffet on Friday, 14th July, 2017 between 9am and 11am.
