A tour of the old town (Altstadt) part of Oberursel is being offered on Saturday, 6th January, 2018 at 2pm.
The tour starts in front of the Vortaunusmuseum at the Marktplatz at 2pm and costs €3 per person.
There will be a book flea market in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 6th January, 2018, between 10am and 1pm with proceeds going to the library’s supporters’ association.
The library is located at one end of the market square in Oberursel, in the Eppsteinerstraße.
The nearest car parks are “Bleiche” and in the Holzweg. The nearest train station is Altstadt (U3).
The town of Oberursel would like to remind residents that fireworks may not be let of in the town in the following areas:
– near timber-framed houses, or close enough that the firework could land on one
– near houses with thatched-roofs, or close enough that the firework could land on such a roof
– near churches, hospitals, childrens’ homes and homes for the elderly
This is not just a request but governed by laws on the use of explosives and environmental noise control. Anyone setting of a firework that causes a timber-framed house to catch fire faces not only a fine and claims for damages, but also the possibility of a prison sentence.

Blood can be donated at the fire station in Weißkirchen (part of Oberursel) on Tuesday, 26th December, 2017 between 1pm and 5pm. The fire station is located at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Strasse 2a.
To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Due to the amount of ice and snow on the ground the weekly market on this coming Saturday, 23rd December, 2017, will be moved to the Epinayplatz.

The story “Pippi Langstrumpf feiert Weihnachten” by Astrid Lindgren is being read in the library on Thursday, 21st December, 2017 at 4pm by volunteer Edith Nikel-Ruppmann.
Tickets cost €2 and should be reserved in advance in the library or by calling 06171 62870.
The Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 21st December 2017.
Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.
Tuesday night is film night at Bluebox Portstraße, located near the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.
As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Tuesday, 19th December, 2017, we are told that it will be a Swedish Christmas comedy. If you do want to know which film will be shown then call 06171 636930 and they will tell you.
The showing starts at 9pm.
