Energy saving advice

Energy Saving Calculator - ©iStockphoto.com/alexslThe Verbraucherzentrale (consumers’ association) will be offering individual energy saving consultations in the Rathaus in Oberursel on Thursday, 18th October 2018.

Appointments cost €5 for 30 minutes, and €2.50 for each 15 minutes after that. They need to be arranged in advance by calling 06171 502-310.

 

Bingo at the Seniorentreff

Bingo - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / iofotoThe Seniorentreff in Oberursel will be offering an afternoon of Bingo on Thursday, 11th October 2018 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the “Altes Hospital” (Hospitalstraße 9).

Anyone who is interested is invited to come along and try their luck!

Kamishibai Theatre performance at the library

A Kabishibai Theatre performance for children aged 3 and over will take place in Oberursel’s library on Saturday, 13th October, 2018 at 11am.

“Kabishibai” is Japanese and means “paper drama”.  A story is told using a small stage and pictures on cards inserted into it.

The story on Saturday is “Abenteuer mit Karlchen”.

The performance will last about 45 minutes and tickets costing €2 each are available at the library or by calling 06171 62870.

Steam trains

DampflokThe Dampfbahnclub-Taunus e.V. steam railway in Oberursel will be open to the public on Sunday, 14th October, 2018 between 10am and 5pm.

Located at the end of the Mainstraße, to get there, either leave the A661/B455 at “Oberursel-Nord” towards Oberursel, then take the first turning right into the Dornbachstraße. The Mainstraße is on the right-hand side.

By U-Bahn, take the U3 to Lahnstraße and cross the road before turning left into the Dornbachstraße.

Entry costs €2 for adults and €1 for children.  Tickets cost €1 each, with children receiving their first ticket on entry.

Guided walk: Jewish life in Oberursel

The Victim's Memorial (Opferdenkmal) in OberurselA guided walk entitled “Auf den Spuren jüdischen Lebens in Oberursel” (Traces of Jewish life in Oberursel) is being offered on Sunday, 14th October, 2018 by historian Angelika Rieber.

The tour starts at 2pm at the fountain on the Marktplatz and costs 3EUR per person.

A celtic funeral pileA tour entitled “Das keltische Leben am Fuße des Feldbergs” (celtic life at the foot of the Feldberg) is being held on Saturday, 13th October, 2018 at 2pm.

The tour starts at the Taunus Information Centre and costs €5 per person, those taking part should have sturdy footwear.

 

Donate Blood

Blood can be donated at the Red Cross in Oberursel on Friday, 12th October 2018 between 3.30pm and 8pm. The Red Cross is located at Marxstraße 28, opposite the U-Bahn station “Lahnstraße”.

To donate you must be healthy and between 18 and 68 years of age. If you have not donated before, then you must not be over 60. You must take some form of identification with you, such as a passport, that contains a photo.

Breakfast Cinema at Bluebox Portstrasse

As the organisation is not a commercial cinema, they are not allowed to advertise which film will be shown in advance. For Sunday, 21st October 2018, we are told that it will be a French film. If you do want to know which film will be shown or to reserve tickets call 06171 636930.

The showing starts at 11.30am and they are located opposite the U-Bahn stop “Altstadt”.

3,000 step walk for senior citizens

To take part, be at the Christuskirche in the Oberhöchstädter Straße at 3pm.
