Walls of Resistance

An exhibition entitled “Walls of Resistance” about Street Art and human rights in Egypt can be viewed until Friday, 5th July, 2013 in the foyer of the town hall (Rathaus).

The pictures are accompanied by background information about Egypt, its culture and the situation in the Middle East.

The exhibition is a co-operation between the equal opportunities department in the town hall and the local Amnesty International group.

A travelling exhibition about the work of the Deutscher Bundestag (the German parliament) is currently in Oberursel’s town hall.

It was opened on Thursday evening by local member of parliament Dr. Stefan Ruppert (MdB), who will also be talked to classes of schoolchildren about the work of parliament when they visit the exhibition which is open to the public until Tuesday, 28th May, 2013.  At other times a member of the parliament’s public relations corps will be on hand to answer questions.

In addition to the information on display, visitors also have a chance to take home a copy of the German constitution (“Grundgesetz”) and DVDs about the history of democracy in Germany and the Reichstag building, including one especially for children called “Politibongo”.

Fotos erzählen Geschichten – Photos tell stories

An exhibition of photographs taken by members of the Photo-Cirkel in Oberursel is currently on display at the town’s library.

Each of the photos or photo sets tells a story, hence the title of the exhibition, such as the hunting pelican, or “from corn to bread”.

It was officially opened on Friday, 12th October, by the leader of the circle, Günter Albrecht, with Mayor Hans-Georg Brum and the chairman of the culture circle Lothar M. Wachter, and was accompanied by music played by Björn Grün and Stefan Heller.

The photos can be viewed during the normal opening times of the library until Wednesday, 31st October, 2012.  These are:

Tuesday-Saturday 10am-1pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 3pm-6pm
Thursday 3pm-7pm

The photographers are: Reinhart Stoll, Günter Albrecht, Harro Peschmann, Manfred Opitz, Marlene Bode, Christian J. Weill, Hans Peter Lipp, Christa Schwermann, Carrie Haub and Brigitte Lehmann.

150 Years of Opel

The Central Garage Automuseum in Bad Homburg is currently holding an exhibition called “150 years of Opel” which tells the story of Adam Opel AG.

The exhibition is open Wednesdays to Sunday between 12 noon and 4.30pm.  Entry is free, but a donation is requested.

The museum is located at Niederstedter Weg 5, on the outskirts of Bad Homburg.

Bipolar Art Exhibition at the Klinik Hohe Mark

Bipolart Exposition (© Nathalie Karg)Two exhibitions open at the Klinik Hohe Mark in Oberursel on Friday, 9th September 2011, both by local graphic designer Nathalie Karg.

The first is called “Momentos Flamencos” and contains photos from Andalusia.

The main exhibition is called “Bipolar überleben von A bis Z” (surviving bipolar from A to Z).  Bipolar is a manic-depressive disorder, and the visitor is taken on a 26 stage tour through the artist’s impression of the disorder.

Entry to the opening costs €12 in conjunction with the revue “Toll im Quadrat”.

The exhibitions will remain at the clinic until the end of November.
