Guildo Horn at the Hessentag

Guildo Horn is probably best remembered outside of Germany for his performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham in 1998.

The hr-treff is located next to Oberursel’s main station.

Poetry Slam at the Hessentag

8 poets from around Hessen will be competing against local poets from Oberursel on Wednesday, 15th June at 11am.

The event takes place in the Festzelt at the Platz der Bundeswehr which is located near the car park P1.  The nearest U-Bahn station is “Stadtmitte” from where it is a short walk along the Liebfrauenstraße.

Entry is free.

Stormin’ Norman & Friends

The nearest U-Bahn station is “Altstadt” (previously known as “Portstraße”).

Was ist Heimat? What is Home?

Debate - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / oneo2“Was ist Heimat?” (What is home?) is a debate taking place during the Hessentag in Oberursel on Tuesday, 14th June at 4pm.

It is being held at the Frankfurter Neue Presse stage in the Deschauer Park which is on the corner of Füllerstraße and Oberhöchstädter Straße and is being organised by the Volkshochschule Hochtaunus.

 

The Höhner Rockin’ Roncalli Show

Blue musical notes - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / OrsonOne show taking place almost daily during the Hessentag is the “Höhner Rockin’ Roncalli Show”.

The show times are: Monday and Wednesday to Saturday, 7.30pm and Sunday 7pm, with family shows on Monday and Saturday at 2.30pm and Sunday at 2pm.

The show is a combination of circus acts and rock music and is being held in a Big Top on the Rolls Royce field.  It actually starts one day earlier than the Hessentag on 9th June.

The easiest way to get there is by U-Bahn, as the field is next to the “Lahnstraße” stop.

Schüssel Live at the Hessentag

Drama and Comedy - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / lenmLocal comedian “Schüssler” (Peter Schuessel) will be performing live at the Hessentag on Saturday, 11th June at 4pm on the Raiffeisenbank stage at the Markplatz, and on Friday, 17th June at 6pm on the Süwag stage in the Rushmoor park.

To get to the Markplatz take the U-Bahn to either “Altstadt” or “Stadtmitte”, for Rushmoor park use either “Stadtmitte” or “Oberursel Bahnhof”.

 

Chris Malu at the Hessentag

Oberursel - Tor zum TaunusLocal Schlager Chris Malu singer will be performing at the Hessentag in Oberursel on 14th June at 6.30pm on the Süwag stage in the Rushmoor-Park.

Amongst other things, Frau Malu is known for singing the Hessentag song: “Oberursel, Tor zum Taunus”.

The Rushmoor-Park is located near the Maasgrund, with Oberursel-Bahnhof and Stadtmitte being the nearest U-Bahn stations.

Linkin Park at the Hessentag

Music and Dance - ©Can Stock Photo Inc. / james2000As part of their “A Thousand Suns: World Tour” the group Linkin Park will be performing at the Hessentag in Oberursel on Sunday, 19th June, 2011.

The concert starts at 5pm and the bands “Dredg”, “Die Antwood”, “Middle Class Rut” and “Anberlin” will also be appearing.

The Hessentagsarena located near to the car park P2 and the U-Bahn station “Bommersheim”.

Ukulele record breaking attempt

The current record stands at 155.

Throughout the week visitors will be able to buy the instruments at the Musikhaus Taunus stand on the Hessentagsstraße and before the record attempt itself.  The chords for the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” will be taught on the day, so no previous experience is necessary.

The record attempt will take place on Saturday, 18th June, 2011 at 3pm on the Musikhaus Taunus stage  next to the U-Bahn station “Altstadt” (previously known as “Portstraße”.)

Roxette at the Hessentag

Billed as one of the major attractions of the Hessentag, the concert has long since sold out, but some tickets are now changing hands on eBay.

The nearest car park is P2, the nearest U-Bahn station is “Bommersheim”.
