Collision between car and U-Bahn

Last Wednesday (21st August, 2013) there was a collision between a car and a U-Bahn at the level crossing on the corner of the Nassauer Straße and Berliner Straße.
According to police the 81-year-old driver of a Mercedes ignored a red traffic light and drove onto the crossing. The driver of the U-Bahn made an emergency stop, but the train still hit the car on the crossing although no-one was injured.
The fire brigade were called to clear the debris from the crossing, but trains were running again a short time later.
The damage is estimated at around €50,000.
Lorry and U-Bahn collided at crossing

A lorry and a U-Bahn train have collided at the Zimmersmühlenweg level crossing.
The collision took place on Thursday, 2nd May, 2013 at around 3.35pm, when the driver of a lorry travelling along the Frankfurter Landstraße turned left into the Zimmersmühlenweg and oversaw the U-Bahn coming from Oberursel’s station and travelling towards Bommersheim.
Luckily, no-one was injured and there were only around 20 passengers in the train. The damage is estimated at €23,000 – €20,000 of which is to the U-Bahn. Both the train and the lorry were able to continue their journeys unassisted.

One of the most hotly discussed topics in Oberursel this month must surely be the re-development of an area called the “Bahnhofsareal”. Roughly speaking, that is the area between the flyover at the “Drei Hasen” where the Homburger Landstraße meets the Nassauer Straße, and the other end of the Nassauer Straße where it almost – but not quite – joins up with the Weingärtenumgehung. Not quite, unless you include the temporary road that was put in place for the Hessentag to give residents access to the area.
In the middle of this area is the newly restored station, hence the term “Bahnhofsareal” – the area around the station.
The future of that area is not just being discussed now, it has been a topic of discussion and in the town council for the past 25 years, as Councillor Dr. Eggert Winter of the SPD reminded councillors last week before launching into a blow-by-blow account of the various plans that had been on the cards in that time, including plans for a tunnel under the area and closing the level crossing at the end of the Adenauerallee, and a new station combining both S-Bahn and U-Bahn tracks.

U-Bahn stopped at the Kupferhammer

The Kupferhammerweg became the end of the line for a weekend during works on the level crossing across the Hohemarkstraße.
Trains terminated at Kupferhammer from where a minibus service connected with the stations “Rosengärtchen”, “Waldlust” and “Hohemark”.

The level crossing on the Hohemarkstraße between the “Kupferhammerweg” and “Im Rosengärtchen” is being serviced at the weekend.
The road will be closed to traffic at this point from Friday, 9th November, 2012 at 10pm until Monday, 12th November, 2012 at 5am. A diversion via the A661 and B455 will be signposted.
U3 Trains from Frankfurt will terminate at the station “Kupferhammer”, from where buses will connect with “Rosengärtchen”, “Waldlust” and “Hohemark”.
Local buses will also be affect, with route 42 terminating at “Lorsbachstraße”, from where passengers should switch to the shuttle buses. There is no replacement service to the stops “Forstamt” or “Hauptfriedhof”.
Gattenhöferweg closed over the weekend

The Gattenhöferweg in Oberursel will be closed between from Friday, 7th September until Monday 10th September 2012 to allow for work to take place on the level crossing.
